About the Solid Space Lab.

The Solid Space Fabrication Lab and Prototyping Lab is a high-tech workshop used for fabricating traditional and digital prototypes. It features:

-Dimension SST 1200es 3D printer, Roland CNC, a Universal Co2 laser cutter, a Roland 3D laser scanner, a vacuum former, as well as an assortment of woodworking tools and portable power tools.

Entrance:
Solid Space is entered by accessing the graduate student area at SIAT. Undergraduate students will not have access to Solid Space through this area as it is accessed by card key. Undergraduate students will be required to contact Production Technologist to physically access the Lab.

Solid Space is a service of SIAT SFU catering to the students, staff and faculty of Simon Fraser University’s Surrey Campus, with some opportunity existing for access outside this community.

Solid Space is availability is generally 9-4pm, Monday – Thursday.
Through prior arrangement, Fridays may be available too. This may be subject to change. Please e-mail or call Solid Space staff for appointments to use the Lab or to have parts fabricated digitally.

Due to space and resource limitations, we cannot accomodate spray finishing, metalworking, or wood cutting of large sheet goods or panels.
