Drew Paulin
SIAT Graduate Student, Master of Science

“My research at SIATis relevant to many real-world applications, fromcollaboration & communication tools to emergency management & sensemaking systems.”

I chose to pursue my Masters at SIAT because of the interdisciplinary nature of research that it offers. I am currently exploring social visualization, computer mediated communication, identity and collaboration. Specifically I am interested in creating online environments that foster and contribute to effective social interaction. My professors and thesis supervisor have been an amazing source of knowledge, support and guidance. I have also met incredibly interesting people through my studies and conferences, and am continually surprised by how seemingly unrelated work can intersect and share common ground.

After completing this degree, I would like to continue my research at the PhD level and eventually join the professoriate. I also plan to continue my work as executive partner and Chief of Interaction Design at Motionsketch Media, a company that specializes in innovative motion-reactive and mobile-controlled digital displays that are geared towards advertising.
