Visual Analytics Research (VAR) Lab


Principal Investigator: John Dill

VARlab focuses on research involving the development of new visual analytics technologies. Visual analytics has been defined as "the science of analytical reasoning facilitated by the interactive visual interface. In partnership with SCIENCE Lab, VAR Lab develops new visualization systems for law enforcement, health sciences, critical infrastructure protection, and aerospace uses that are informed by the underlying science of human-information interaction.

Ontological Research Group
Using ontologies - complex conceptual models – and reasoning to achieve breakthroughs in other fields. Active areas of research include software engineering, service oriented architectures, and user modeling, museum guides, and e-Learning.
