The BioV research group investigates new methods for the visualization and understanding of biological data.
 
Research projects include:

IMAS (The Interactive Multigenomic Analysis System) is a new Visual Analytics system for the discovery of knowledge in genomic information. IMAS enables genomic scientists to rapidly analyze a set of microbial genomic sequences using tools such as Glimmer, Blast, ClustalW, Primer3 and TransTerm and to visualize the output of these tools in a unified genomic framework.
 
A new project for the lab is the visualization of high-dimensional flow cytometry data. We use highly interactive 3D user interfaces to investigate large datasets generated by flow cytometry machines.

Ontological Research Group
Using ontologies - complex conceptual models – and reasoning to achieve breakthroughs in other fields. Active areas of research include software engineering, service oriented architectures, and user modeling, museum guides, and e-Learning.
