SIAT Prof Rob Woodbury Runs With Olympic Torch
posted: january 26. 2010
Congratulatins to Professor Dr. Rob Woodbury, who today ran in the Okanagan with the Vancouver Olympic Torch for 2010. Woodbury is a former Olympic athlete in sailing, and was due to compete in the 1980 summer Olympics in Moscow (which were boycotted by Canada, the US, and a number of others).
Congratulations Rob! A video of his run is below.
In addition to Prof Woodbury, SIAT has a significant presence at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. 2nd year student Obi Vattanawong has been selected as SFU's official torch bearer and will be running in the city of Burnaby a couple days before the games. Further, SIAT Alumni Ben Hulse is Vancouver 2010's Design Manager, Brand and Creative.
SIAT will also have a presence at the Surrey Celebration Site with the WeBlimp project (see http://www.vimeo.com/4223282 for the video) by Nathan Waddington, Anna Wu, Brian Quan, and Andrew Thong; and the Futura Sustainability Game by prof Alissa Antle. WeBlimp displays Feb 17-21 at the Surrey 2010 Celebration site, and Futura will be on display Feb 12-28. For more details, see http://www.surrey2010.ca
