The winner of SFU’s Olympic torchbearer contest is third-year student Borvonan (Obi) Vattanawong. Obi carried the Olympic flame in Burnaby on behalf of Simon Fraser University on Thursday, Feb. 11. Due in part to his studies at SFU, he produced a short video, World of Opportunities, showcasing why SFU matters to him.
His video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6q5n_LsNk8
SFU created its Olympic torchbearer contest in partnership with VANOC. SFU is a community contributor program member for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games.
Second year SIAT student, Borvonan (Obi) Vattanawong completed TechOne last year and designed the winning logo in the TechOne t-shirt competition last year. This year, each TechOne student received a t-shirt with Obi’s winning design.
Also wearing Obi’s design is TOM Bendy. (TOM’s name is an abbreviation for TechOne Mascot. “Bendy” because his frame bends.)
