SIAT Congratulates its 2008 Graduates!

posted: june 12. 2008

On June 5th, many of the 2008 graduates of School of Interactive Art and Technology gathered with staff, professors and lecturers who they have been taught by and worked with over the course of their education in order to celebrate on the evening before they crossed the stage at convocation on June 6th. The celebration was held in the 3rd floor Gallery room of the Surrey Campus where those attending gathered for a last couple hours of food and conversation with each other and their instructors before moving on in their careers, although if Jim Bizzochi has anything to say about it this will hardly be the last time these students set foot in SFU Surrey. In the speech that he delivered to those who gathered Mr. Bizzochi congratulated them on their works and achievements in their years as a part of SIAT and reminded them that their education and the people they had worked with here were now a part of them, and will be an inspiration in all that they do afterwards and that they would always be welcome as alumni of SIAT. Reminding them at the last that though they may check out, they can never truly leave. Congratulations to all of this years graduates, and good luck in all you choose to pursue in the future.

Interactive Arts and Technology graduate Simon Kwok gave the student speech for the entire graduating class at the Friday June 6 Convocation ceremonies.

Simon Kwok convocated with a B.Sc. in interactive design from the Surrey campus’ School of Interactive Arts and Technology. In his third year, Kwok was one of 13 students chosen to participate in the Italia Design Field School. For seven weeks, he interviewed top designers in Italian cities including Rome, Florence and Milan. He also did a one-year co-op at BlackBerry™ maker Research in Motion before returning for his last semester.
