Lambda Solutions (www.lambdasolutions.net) has an immediate need for an intermediate Linux Systems Administrator. We are a Vancouver-based leading edge eLearning company providing online training support services for Tier-1 clients in North America and we are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team in providing primarily client Linux systems administration and support. Some basic Windows support will also be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform all operational and administrative activities for system management including diagnosing/troubleshooting complex problems.
- Identify and solve issues in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Administration and support of hardware and software.
- Effectively monitor performance of systems and make recommendations for improvement of enterprise applications.
- Ability to multitask between site maintenance and project based initiatives.
- On-call, via pager, first response monitor for website and batch problems on a rotating basis with other Operations personnel, on-call rate adjustment provided
Qualifications:
Requirements
- 3 years professional experience administrating Linux/Unix systems
- Solid scripting ability, Bash, Perl
- Solid understanding of OOP languages especially web based, PHP, Javascript languages\
- Solid experience administrating apache web servers
- Solid experience administrating RDBMS, especially mySQL and postGres
- Experience administrating virtualisation technologies in a production environment (VMWare preferred)
- Proven ability to interact and consult with customers for both troubleshooting and application development
- Experience with enterprise and open source backup technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Beneficial
- Networking and TCP/IP skills including DNS/DHCP/SSH/NFS
- iSCSI setup and maintenance experience
- Experience with SMTP, POP and IMAP mail systems
- Familiarity with openLDAP and/or Active Directory systems
- University or college degree in Computer Science or related field
