All students registered at SFU can obtain computing accounts. Registered students have access to library, recreation, community, health, counseling, and career services.
University and National Awards (NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR), Financial Aid, Entrance Scholarships, Graduate Fellowships, teaching and research assistantships are available on a limited basis.

- Who should I contact to find out which faculty might be good research matches for me?
Students considering applying to SIAT are encouraged to make contact with individual research faculty to learn more about their research programs and see if they would be a good research match. In general, the best way to contact SIAT faculty is by email.

- Would it be helpful to include anything (CV, work samples, portfolio etc.) to support my application?
At the time you make your application please include only the elements indicated in the instructions. Note that these include a letter describing your research interests and career goals.
All admission information submitted should be uploaded through the online application system as individual PDF formatted documents to expedite the processing of your application. An official hard-copy original of each transcript submitted must also be received in order for your application to be considered official and complete. It is possible that during the admissions process you may be contacted and asked to submit samples of your work or provide additional information to the admissions committee.

- How much are the tuition fees for graduate studies at SFU?
Tuition and student fees for graduate students at SFU can be viewed on the Dean of Graduate Studies Fees & Tuition Page, SIAT is a Research based program, please be sure to use the "Reseach Programs" fees for your calculations. In addition to the per term fee you need to add student fees as outlined at the bottom of the page.
Please note that the School of Interactive Arts & Technology graduate program operates on a per term basis, with three terms per academic year and tuition must be paid for each term.

- How long does it take to complete a Masters degree? A PhD degree?
SIAT Graduate students typically take 6-7 semesters to complete their MA or MSc degree, and 12 semesters for a PhD.

- What do I need to know as an international student?
As an international applicant considering continuing your education at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University you will find SFU International to be a great source of information regarding international student life.
At Simon Fraser University international graduate students pay the same tuition fees as domestic students do. For more information regarding tuition costs refer to that question in our FAQ.
Please note that if you are recommended for admission to our program it can take a few months to obtain your student visa. Please ensure that you apply early enough in the admission period to leave enough time to obtain your Visa and arrive in Canada before the semester begins.

- Is there student housing on campus?
There is no student housing on the Surrey Campus of Simon Fraser University. For information regarding on-campus housing for the Burnaby Campus, as well as links to external housing sources, please visit SFU Residence and Housing.
