Coursework
Required Foundation Coursework
All graduate students complete the following foundation courses:
- IAT 800 Foundations of Computational Art and Design (unless exempted)
- IAT 805 Research Colloquium
As part of the requirement for a SIAT Masters or PhD program you must 1) attend two terms of the Colloquium and 2) do one juried presentation (Masters one presentation; PhD two presentations some time over the term of their graduate program within SIAT). This can be done via the Research Colloquium or via a paper, poster or some other type of juried publication.
and, either
- IAT 801 Qualitative Research Methods and Design , or
- IAT 802 Quantitative Research Methods and Design
Core Coursework
Masters students must complete two of the following; PhD students must complete two or three:
- IAT 810 New Media
- IAT 811 Computational Poetics
- IAT 812 Cognition, Learning and Collaboration
- IAT 813 Artificial Intelligence in Computational Art and Design
- IAT 814 Knowledge Visualization and Communication
MSc Special Requirements
The MSc is distinguished from the MA by additional constraints on coursework requirements. In addition to the standard program requirements, MSc students must fulfill the following core coursework:
Two required courses from the following list:
- IAT 812 Cognition, Learning and Collaboration
- IAT 813 Artificial Intelligence in Computational Art and Design
- IAT 814 Knowledge Visualization and Communication
Elective Requirements
Students are required to take electives as part of their coursework. These are different by the M.A. and M.Sc.. Please see Electives for full details
