Where we work

SIAT @ SFU Surrey is a great place to pursue your studies. We make sure you have access to some of the best facilities around, including:

Solid Space: The Solid Space Fabrication Lab and Prototyping Lab is a high-tech workshop used for fabricating traditional and digital prototypes. It features a Stratasys Dimension SST 1200es 3D printer and a Universal Co2 laser cutter, as well as an assortment of woodworking tools and portable power tools. More details at The Solid Space website.

Undergraduate Studio Spaces: these two workshops were designed by students in our Spatial Design courses to be places for students to work on projects that involved teams and bulding things. The spaces are movable and can adapt to the changing needs of the program. More details at the Studio Spaces website

Computer Labs: We have a number of state of the art computer labs with the latest tools you need to pursue your degree. More details at the IT Services website.

Team Rooms: Small meeting rooms that are bookable by students for your project needs.

Classrooms: Yes, we have those too. All are equipped with digital projection systems and many have surround sound to support the high tech learning you will do at SIAT. We've also recently had a high definition 3D digital theatre donated to the campus that will be used in our classes in the future.

These classes are also a lot smaller on average than most university classrooms. We run largely on the lecture-tutorial model, meaning that you will have the opportunity to interact very closely with your instructor and peers in a tutorial setting.
